November 23-27, 2015: A fun filled week!

Happy Weekend everyone,

What a fun week we have had in Grade 1A. We did lots of fun learning and ended the week with the awesome Christmas Bazaar. 

This week we discovered that we can do lots of different things at school. The I CAN section of our board was filled and we all know that we can do all the things we set out to do :-)  

 We began our week with learning about and planting tomatoes for our class using soil and fertilisers. We all helped with filling our pot with stones and soil and fertiliser and then putting in out tomato seeds. We continue to water and give our plants enough sunlight. Keeping our fingers crossed that our plants grow!

 In Math, we discovered what it means to be balanced and how to balance the scales. We had fun investigation and discovering if what we thought was true or false.

In Social Studies, we used Google maps and we use photographs of our school and discovered that they are different from each other. Our school looks very different when we see it from above! We loved Google maps! 

For English, We have been learning how to write poems, we discovered that poems have rhyming words and a rhythm.

We planted our own horse gram sprouts and we observe them everyday to see how much they grow and what they look like! We love science! 

We learned how to measure using non standard units- we all tired to measure the distance from Grade 1B to JKB using our bodies (after the floors were cleaned - of course!) 

We had a new toy in class that we all look forward to using for science when we lear about structures! we will be using our new 3D pen to design and then build simple structures. 

We are proud of our classmates and we all strive to be principled everyday even when no one is watching us! Well done! 

 We tried writing our own poems and presenting it to our classmates with great success. We are all budding writers and are very proud of the work we produced using poppet on the iPads. Well Done Grade 1A!

As you can see, we have been busy learning in 1A and are loving every moment of our learning journey. Watch out for this space as we move into Term 2 and we begin to learn more new things- before that, we have our Winter performance, our christmas party and lots of other fun activities lined up for our students.
